"Hi, I need my password reset"
"OK, we can do that for you, what screen are you logging into right now?"
"Huh?"
"I need to know what program you're logging into, so I know which password of yours to reset, so can you just tell me what you have on the screen?"
"I'm not logging into anything"
"Oh, um, well, on the computer, what do you have up on the screen?"
"I'm not at a computer"
"....Then what password do you need reset?"
[getting angry] "My password"
"Ma'am, I'm confused, I have several passwords to different programs that I can reset for you, but I don't know what you're trying to do right now. Can you please tell me what you need your password for?"
[now angry] "I just need my password reset, that's all!"
"Ma'am, I cannot reset your password with the information you have provided me this far. Please [for the love of god] tell me what you are trying to access with your password."
"I'm just trying to get into Windows!"
"That is called logging into Windows, you are trying to LOG IN to Windows, and I can reset that password for you."
"Well I don't know all these computer terms like that, I just need to get on!"
It's been a frustrating week, and this was the only call that made me smile in the slightest so far. So instead of trusting reality to provide for me, I'm going to open this up to you all. If you have a computer issue, real or imagined or completely falsified, email me or comment it, and I'll do my darndest to make a real answer/make a funny answer. If we get enough, maybe I'll even try to do a weekly! Oh my, think of the possibilities!

For the love of God, my work computer is dreadfully SLOW. Like glacially slow. It makes lots of whirring noises and gets really upset when I want to use Quickbooks and (italicized) Excel at the same time. I am currently at the top of the company list to get a new computer, but The Controller always (italicazied) blames the pace on the weather. I often call The Controller and tell him I am about to drop my computer in The Marina.
Help!
I have the same issue at work as Marnie does. Although my computer doesn't like when I use internet explorer instead of firefox. IT says I have an "old" computer, but it didn't gradually get slow. It just happened suddenly in May.
If this becomes a weekly post, I'm sure I can find something to complain about/need help with that often!
